in the ECE Community: National/Federal Level
Three national/federal organizations
that appeal to me are the Administration for Children & Families (ACF),
HighScope Educational Research Foundation, and the National Association for
Multicultural Education (NAME). These organizations appeal to me because of
their initiative to improve the well-being of children and families, and their
commitment to high quality early childhood education to children and their
families. These organizations is be used to assist me in addressing my
challenge of modifying curricula to promote multicultural education in early
childhood setting.
The Administration for Children and
Families (ACF) is a division of the Department of Health & Human Services.
ACF promotes the economic and social well-being of families, children,
individuals and communities. I work for a Head Start/Early Head Start program
that rely ACF’s mission to foster health and well-being by providing federal
leadership, partnership and resources for the compassionate and effective
delivery of human services.
I chose HighScope Educational Research
Foundation because their mission is to lift lives through education. They
envision a world in which all educational settings use active participatory
learning so everyone has a chance to succeed in life and contribute to society.
I
choose The National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME) because it
brings together individuals and groups with an interest in multicultural
education. The members of this organization include professional educators,
higher education faculty, administrators, social workers, curriculum specialist
and researchers. They will be a great asset to my community of practice. NAME
advocates for equity and social justice through multicultural education.
The job opportunity that exist within
these organization that interest me is an Early Childhood Specialist for Region
IV. STG International, Incorporated, is looking for an Early Childhood
Specialist to support the Head Start Training and Technical Assistance network
in ACF Region IV in Mississippi. The duties of the job is to provide
consultation, training, policy and procedure development, and state wide agency
collaboration. I have listed some of the requirements for this position.
Required
Skills:

Ability to utilize resources, research
and available technology to appropriately provide guidance to staff, parents
and partners regarding early childhood issues.

Ability to develop, train and provide
presentations to individuals, small and large groups.
·
Ability to work independently and in a
team environment.
·
Excellent analytical and problem solving
skills.
Required
Experience:
·
Minimum of Bachelors degree in Early
Childhood Education or Child Development.
·
Minimum of five years working in a program
serving young children.
